Some talented high school students performed freedom songs Monday night alongside some singers who helped create those songs.
Choirs from Albany's four public high schools and Deerfield-Windsor and Sherwood Christian Academy celebrated black history month with a concert with the freedom singers from the Albany Civil Rights Institute.
The museum's Executive Director says it's something he wanted to put together since he took the job.
"I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to bring the community together. And, to let young people know that, young folks are just young folks. Regardless of what school they go to. And the focus on the music. they don't focus on each other," said W. Frank Wilson, ARCI, Executive Director.
Wilson plans to make the concert an annual event.
