HABERSHAM CO., GA (WALB) -

Officials confirmed that a deputy injured in a deadly shooting on Sunday was a former Albany Police officer.

Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell and Deputy Bill Zigan were shot while responding to a domestic dispute involving another former police officer.

Investigators said Anthony Giaquinta shot his ex-wife before shooting the officers. Lee County Sheriff Reggie Rachals went through the Sheriff's academy with Terrell in 2009.

"He seemed in good spirits. I mean I talked to him on the phone, and he's concerned for his deputy but his deputy's doing ok, he's just in a lot of pain and still in the hospital," said Sheriff Rachals.

Investigators said Giaquinta killed his ex-wife and a friend of hers--identified as 45-year old Steve Singleton. Giaquinta was also killed.

Investigators haven't said if Giaquinta killed himself or if the officers shot and killed him. Sheriff Terrell was shot in the arm. Zigan was shot multiple times but was expected to make a full recovery.
