ALBANY, GA (WALB) - This week marks an important week for farmers. They must decide their plans on insurance coverage for 2015 by the end of this week.
Farmers also must notify the government of the average number of acres they've planted of a crop in the last 5 years.
"You need to get a base applied to your farms and then if there is a payment for the program, it'll apply to that base. So you got to make sure to get your base upgraded to your best yields," said Tyron Spearman.
Spearman says cotton is the only crop that won't require a base under the new Farm bill.
