Driver who crashed into Huddle House identified

FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) -
On Saturday, a man crashed his vehicle into the Huddle House in Fitzgerald. Manager Georgia Johnson says four booths, two glass windows, and lots of brick was destroyed.

Fitzgerald Police Chief William Smallwood says 78-year-old John Wiggins' foot slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator. Wiggins was not hurt and Smallwood says he will not face any charges.

Sarah Mulkey a customer inside the Huddle House was taken to the hospital for a leg injury and she was treated and not admitted to the hospital.

It may be a week before the restaurant can reopen.  "Were missing quite a bit of business. Sundays is one of our better days of the week. We stay busy from six in the morning till all day long. We are opened 24 hours a day here," says Georgia Johnson, Huddle House Manager.


She says the Huddle House was hit by a vehicle once before, but nothing as this bad as the crash.
