MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

Friends of a Moultrie musician battling cancer hosted a benefit at Life Spring Community Church today.

Jamie Pitts is battling stage four cancer in his lungs, bones, and liver. He's a blues and folk musician and was diagnosed in July of last year.

His friends say the proceeds from the benefit will go towards Pitts's living and medical expenses.

“Jamie is one of those people that is genuinely just the most kindest, loving person,” said Chelsey Meeks, friend. “He would do it for us and anybody that has dealt with cancer whether it be themselves or a family member knows how tough it is."

Dorothy Pearce donated a quilt her mother made in the 1960's to be auctioned off in the benefit for Jamie Pitts.
