VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The VSU women's basketball team was asking Friday for help raising money for cancer victims in Lowndes County.

Saturday night, the team will have its 8th annual "Shoot for a Cure" game. When you buy a ticket to the game, you'll have the option of pledging up to $1 for every three point shot the Blazers make during the game.

As of Friday, the team had raised over $25,000 for the Partnership Cancer Fund of Lowndes County through this event over the past seven years. "That money stays here to help cancer victims [with] supplements to wigs to basic gas money to get to treatments," explained head coach Kiley Hill.

Saturday's game starts at 6 p.m. at VSU's P.E. complex.

There was also scheduled to be a raffle, silent auction, and potentially a live auction during the game to help raise money. Items included a handcrafted wooden VSU basketball, a 32 in. flat screen TV, and tailgate grill.
