ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Associated Press reports that Walmart, based in Bentonville, Arkansas, will dole out raises to about half a million employees. That's about four in ten of its 1.3 million member workforce.
While many people are getting raises, the actual amount of the boost isn't much. AP says that full time workers will see 15¢ and hour more, up to $13, and part timers will get an additional 12¢ per hour, bringing them to $10 an hour.
The move by Americas' largest retailer will be closely watched by business interests.
Walmart will make changes to the way it schedules employees, and trains them as well.
