ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Dougherty county school system is revising its wellness policy to make children healthier.
The wellness committee, which includes stakeholders inside and outside the school system, met Wednesday.
Their goal is create policies that will promote good nutrition and prevent children from getting sick or obese.
"We really want the school setting to be a place where we're promoting health and sending a consistent message of health and wellness," Certified Health Education Specialist Sara Trivette.
"So that you can be a productive citizen, get your education and be all that you're meant to be."
The committee plans to give recommendations to the board on alternative, healthy fundraising ideas.
WALB sports director, Kake Wallace, served as a committee member.
