One person confirmed dead after Coffee Co. wreck

COFFEE CO., GA (WALB) -

Georgia State Patrol has confirmed that a wreck happened in Coffee Co. around 6:45 p.m. Thursday night.

GSP said that a woman in an SUV was driving in the south bound lane of the Willacoochee Highway when she noticed a pick-up truck stopped in the road ahead of her. She suddenly slammed on her breaks and swerved into the north bound lane, hitting a Chevy Sedan head on.

The woman in the SUV was killed in the crash.

The two women in the sedan had to be taken to the hospital. One was taken to Macon, the other was taken to Coffee Regional Medical Center, but was later air lifted to Savannah.

GSP is continuing to investigate.
