Ministry helps "Connect" churches with communities

TIFT CO., GA (WALB) -

A non-profit ministry is helping Southwest Georgia churches grow and become better communities.

Connect Ministries began in 2006 in Nashville, helping small churches form relationships in their community through special events. It has since grown to serve much of the southeast.

The organization now has several camps and works with several churches in Southwest Georgia, like Douglas, Tifton, Moultrie and Americus.

"We've seen a lot of communities in numerous churches across the southeast that have really stepped outside their walls and served their church in a unique and innovative way and meet people that they have never met before," said Ken Thomas, President.

Connect has a partnership with WinShape to hold camps each summer for kids. They also hold several annual runs, in partnership with Chick-Fil-A and hold basketball tournaments with the churches.
