South Georgia Humane Society officials say this weekend's Valentine pet adoption was a success.
Four dogs and one cat were adopted at the "Be My Valentine" adoption event at PetSmart on Saturday. The event continued today. PetSmart teamed up with Terrell, Albany and Worth County Humane Societies to find more pets a permanent home.
"The Humane Society of Terrell County adopted out one cat and we have two dog adoptions pending," said Lucie Beeley, Terrell County Humane Society President. "Which is a tremendous success because these are actually dogs that are sisters and they've been together their whole lives and so we're really excited about the family that is adopting them together."
Beeley encourages everyone who is looking for a new pet to adopt from their area shelter.
