SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - Georgia State Patrol has released the name of the pedestrian that was struck and killed Saturday night in Sylvester.
GSP said the man's name was 50-year-old Walter Lee Curry and he was hit by a Chevy Silverado around 10:45 p.m.
The driver tried to swerve out of the way, but he was unable to miss Curry, according to GSP.
The man was walking on Hwy 256 near Town Creek Drive when he was hit.
Phoebe Worth EMS transported the man to Phoebe Worth Hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Sylvester police were the first to arrive on scene.
