Fundraiser honors WALB News 10's Ruthie Garner

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Cancer Coalition of South Georgia held their 2nd annual Night of Hope Fundraiser at the Hilton downtown.

One of our own, WALB News 10's Ruthie Garner was honored. Ruthie is a cancer survivor.

In September 2013, she was diagnosed with fallopian tube cancer, the rarest of all gynecologic cancers.

She shared her message of hope and talked about the importance of being proactive about your health.

“Our community has higher cancer rates than normal and so many families in our area have been impacted by Cancer. The Cancer Coalition is a local organization..All of our programs and all of our services are right here for the residents of our area,” Diane Fletcher, CEO fo the Cancer Coalition of South Georgia.

All the dollars raised will stay in South Georgia to help in the fight against C
