ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Exchange Club of Albany honored some of the best law enforcers in the Albany area on Friday.
They named officers of the year for the Albany and Dougherty County Police Departments, Dougherty and Lee County Sheriff's Offices, Georgia State Patrol, and Department of Natural Resources.
DNR Corporal Greg Wade was named the State Ranger of the Year. He said encouragement from the community helps law enforcers.
"There's a lot of negative things going on in law enforcement, but to be awarded for what you love to do, it means a lot," said Wade.
Each officer was given a plaque and a cash award by the Exchange Club of Albany.
