Doctors remind you of rabies shots

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Doctors once again remind you to make sure your pets are up to date on shots after a rabid skunk was found in Sumter County. Rabies shots are mandated by state law, but vets tell me there are still animals that haven't received their shots.

Several dogs were getting shots at Bush Animal Clinic.

Prices can vary from clinic to clinic, but Dr. Steve Whatley tells me it's affordable for the amount of protection it offers for your pets. Whatley says you should keep an eye out for wild animals on your property and keep your dogs and cats away from them.

"If you see wild animals in your yard and they're behaving differently than what you'd expect them to, where they should run from a human, then you should be concerned," said Dr. Whatley.

Whatley also says another group to watch out for is nocturnal animals that come out during the day.
