Flower shops in Albany had a busy day in preparation for the big day of love Saturday.
With just hours left until Valentines Day officially begins, the Ways House of Flowers is staying busy filling last minute gift orders Friday and Saturday.
The shop has spent the week taking phone calls and working late hours to make sure bouquets, bears and boxes are delivered one time. "We will be here until late night until everything is done and we'll make sure it's all delivered for tomorrow," said Kristi Batten, Co-owner.
Kinney Amburn was wrapping up his Valentines day shopping for his wife as we stopped by. He says he tries each year to make the day special. This year he has to work on the holiday, so he's showing his love with flowers and special plans Friday night.
"After she gets off work, I'm going to try to pick her up and maybe go out for dinner and a movie," said Amburn.
Amburn says it's important his wife, if anything, hears one message. "I love you, sweetie."
Ways House of Flowers says they expect to deliver thousands of gifts for people like Amburn, before the holiday is over. Last year, they sold more than 2,500 flowers, but they say this year has been even busier.
"It's actually a very special day. We enjoy it. We enjoy getting the flowers to all the people and seeing the smiles on their faces."
If you haven't picked up your gift for your special someone, there's still time. "People will be coming in, need to grab something last minute, trying not to get in the dog house," said Batten. "We're there to take care of them."
Ways House of flowers will be taking orders and delivering flowers until Valentines night.
