ALBANY, GA (WALB) - WALB's Ruthie Garner, a fixture of South Georgia TV spanning four decades, will be honored at the Night of Hope on Valentine's night.
Ruthie is not only a producer, host, singer and volunteer, she's a cancer survivor. In September 2013 she was diagnosed with fallopian tube cancer, the rarest of all gynecologic cancers. She says she's humbled to share her story and hopes it will help others.
"If I can just share my story with other people, even at this event for a few minutes, what my walk has been like in getting better. The power of prayer and also a great medical team, that's a wonderful combination to have, and it's helped me," said Garner.
Tickets are $100 each, and available at 229-312-1700. Visit
for more information.
The event is Saturday night from 6 pm to 11:30 pm at the Hilton Garden Inn, Downtown Albany, with a live and silent auction. Proceeds benefit the Cancer Coalition of South Georgia.
