DECATUR CO., GA (WALB) - New developments and additions to Decatur county's landfill are bringing in much needed revenue.
So far, the landfill has four completed cells, bringing in nearly $2 million just last year.
Officials said, while being one of the least expensive landfills to haul to, they continue to be environmentally conscious.
Director of Environmental and Public Services Suzanne Brandt said, “People don't have to be concerned about groundwater contamination or where the trash goes because we are very, very strict about following EPD guidelines.”
Right now, the landfill mostly caters to commercial companies in North Florida, but they hope the new addition of a pedestrian friendly dumping site will attract more people from South Georgia.
