TERRELL CO., GA (WALB) -

The Humane Society of Terrell County is hoping families choose to share their love with homeless pets on Valentine's Day weekend.

Led by President and treasurer Lucie Beeley, the humane society will take part in a two day adoption event to find pets homes, and nurse sick ones back to health.

"This is actually a two day national adoption event," said Beeley. "It will be at PetSmart on Dawson Road in Albany, Georgia. We will have dogs and cats for adoption both Saturday and Sunday."

The humane society is still looking for volunteers, and will feature events for families with and without pets.

"We're going to have a kissing booth, if anybody would like to come by and get their picture with one of our dogs or one of their own," said Beeley. "And, the kissing booth will be open both days."

The humane society is also accepting donations that will go directly to taking care of animals in the shelter.

But Beeley really just hopes people will find a pet to make their Valentine.

"We appreciate any donations that anyone would want to give us," said Beeley. "But, the main purpose of this event is to find homeless dogs and cats a permanent place to live and be adopted."
