Business leaders come to Dougherty County for big quail hunt

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The 27th annual Georgia Quail Hunt, one of the state's most prestigious economic development marketing events, kicks off today in Albany.

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal will be on hand at the event, and Albany economic development leaders are preparing to host business leaders they hope will bring jobs to Georgia.

At least 20 executives from around the country will be here Wednesday for the 27th annual Georgia Quail Hunt sponsored by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

State leaders and officials from the state Department of Economic Development will also be here to network with business leaders.

"The event brings in prospects who might not normally come to Albany but for the event. It also allows us to showcase what we think is one of the greatest assets in Georgia in its natural resources that are here," said Justin Strickland, Albany-Dougherty County Economic Development Commission President.

The three day event kicks off with a sporting clay day at Wynfield Plantation on Leary Road.
