Police warn don't leave your running car unattended.

Albany Police are warning motorists not to leave their cars running unattended... because car thieves are watching.

Sabrina Lewis found that out the hard way about 5:30 Monday night.

Lewis left her Ford Mustang running with the doors unlocked while she ran inside Eastside Cleaners.

When she came out a minute later, her car was gone.

Tuesday Police recovered her stolen car ,  in Atlanta.

Albany Police Corporal Brian Covington said "If you leave your vehicle running.  Unattended and the doors are unlocked, even for a split second, that's just enough time for someone to come in and take your car"

Police say even locking your car doors while leaving it running is not a good idea because a thief may just break your window.
