LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - Work was underway Tuesday to remove what was left of a model home that burned to the ground in Lowndes County.
Around 1:15 Monday afternoon, the model home at 4001 Nelson Hill Place in the Nelson Hill subdivision was destroyed when a fire broke out in the garage area.
The home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
Investigators believe golf carts are to blame. "It appears there were two golf carts that were plugged in under the garage area and there was an electrical wiring problem, an issue with that, an overload," explained Lowndes County Public Information Officer Paige Dukes.
No one was hurt and no neighboring homes were damaged.
