Americus PD makes multiple drug arrests

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Ricky Hart, Senior, 49, of Mayo Street in Americus was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana, less than an ounce. Hart was arrested without incident at 701 Davenport Street at the Parkview Apartments.

Dexter Leon Leverette, 25, who lives in that same apartment, was arrested without incident for felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, felony attempt and conspiracy. Leverette was booked and transported to the Sumter County jail.

Hart had a bond set at $1,053, and was released on summons for city court.

On Friday, James Malory Brown of Gray was arrested for misdemeanor sale or possession of dangerous drugs, and for a felony warrant. Brown was arrested without incident at the Maruit Station, 1410 Crawford street Americus by the Federal Marshal Service and members of APD.

Brown was taken into custody and transported to a detention facility in Bibb County.

APD is also looking into an Armed robbery occurred 709 Davenport Street Saturday night, just after midnight, at 12:15 a.m. No one was injured. The robbery is still under investigation.
