A Baconton Church surprises one of their members with a new car.

Pastor Lawrence Knighton at St.James Missionary Baptist Church gave the keys to a Ford Focus to Deborah Thornton. Thornton is from Albany and says her previous car broke down on her. She's been without a car for a year and says she is thankful for the gift.

"I thank God for his grace, for his love,” said Deborah Thornton. “I thank God for my pastor, my leaders. I thank God for giving me the opportunity."

"Our thing is to be a blessing to people,” said Pastor Lawrence Knighton. “That's what our ministry is really known for is to really try to be a blessing to people."

Pastor Knighton says he plans to give a car away to a member in need each month.
