ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Georgia State Patrol Troopers are urging motorists who break down and pedestrians to stay off roadways, especially limited access highways.
39-year-old Ronald Craft of Valdosta was killed about 4:00 AM Wednesday when a semi hit him on I-75, not far from his home.
Investigators are not sure why he was walking on the Interstate.
Troopers say even walking on the shoulder is dangerous because many drivers veer there because of distracted driving.
"People are so distracted in this day and time. Looking at their phones or looking at their GPS or adjusting their radio," said GSP Sgt. Shawn Urquhart.
Troopers say motorists who break down should stay in their cars as far to the side of the road as possible and wait for help.
