ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Friday is national Go Red for Women to raise awareness for women's heart disease. Health officials say heart disease is 80 percent preventable and raising awareness is a good way to help.
The Department of Public Health held a cooking event today to interact with the public. They say it's important to get the word out when it comes to the growing number of cases.
"1 in 3 women are affected by heart disease and we want them to know that they often will present differently than a male when it comes to have symptoms of a heart attack," said County Nurse Manager Remy Hutchins.
Hutchins says those symptoms are nausea.. jaw pain.. and prolonged pain in your arms.
