ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital is one of several hospitals that is preparing for a potential measles outbreak. Emergency room doctors say they are taking precautions similar to the Ebola outbreak several months ago.
Phoebe has an isolation room ready to go, and are prepared for a case. They say there are steps you can take if you think you are infected.
"Immediately let us know that you have that fear. Put a mask on and we will then take steps to then quarantine you in a room that is specially designed to prevent the spread of airborne diseases," said emergency room physician Dr. Christine Braud
No cases have been reported in Georgia so far.
