MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -  More than a thousand people have sent in applications, called, or emailed the Moultrie-Colquitt county Humane Society, begging to take Rami home.

He's the unusual-looking pit bull dachshund mix who's gotten worldwide attention for his one-of-a-kind looks.

Employees and volunteers said they're overwhelmed by the feedback they received after their Facebook posts showing Rami went viral.

They will not accept any more applications and said it may take a few weeks to find the right home for Rami.

President Dawn Blanton said, “There have been several people that come to the Humane Society just to see him.  Because of that, we have had people walk in the back and adopt dogs.  That is his whole mission.”

Blanton said Rami has become such a star that they're working on making t-shirts featuring him.

Folks have even asked for the dog's autograph.

They will host an Open House February 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Moultrie-Colquitt Humane Society, where you can visit Rami, adopt animals, and make donations to the shelter.
