Man shot in arm in Valdosta

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta police were investigating a shooting Tuesday morning.

According to the police report from the incident, 24 year-old Dontravius Nelson was shot while walking in the 700 block of Langdale Dr. around 4:15 Monday afternoon.

Nelson told investigators that someone pulled up next to him as he was walking to a nearby store and saw someone inside the car pull out a handgun.

"[He] said that he was walking on the 700 block of Langdale [Dr.] and was approached by a passing motorist who pulled a gun on him. Accordin' to Mr. Nelson, he took off running and was shot one time in the arm," said Valdosta Police Department Lt. Aaron Kirk.

Nelson was able to flag down a passing car after being shot and get a ride to South Georgia Medical Center where he received treatment.

Kirk said investigators did have a description of the vehicle they were looking for but were not releasing the description Tuesday morning because the investigation was still ongoing.
