China lowers import tariff on pecans, helps boost trade

China lowers the import tariff for pecans and that lawmakers said is a win for the pecan industry.

The tariff decreased from 24 percent to 10 percent. Congressman Sanford Bishop said it will boost trade to China and will bring jobs and revenue back to Middle and Southwest Georgia.

It is estimated that Georgia annually exports over 75 percent of their total population to China with a gross value of production over 150 million dollars.
