Tift man accused of killing wife

TIFTON, GA (WALB) - The Tift County Sheriff's office website says 43-year-old Timmy Thompson of 17 Chula Brookfield Road was booked into the Tift County Jail Friday night at 8:45, and charged with murder and aggravated assault- family violence.

Thompson is charged with killing his wife 38-year-old Peggy Thompson on October 30th at their home. A domestic violence shelter in Tifton wants other victims to know there's a way out.

"Last year we had over 600 calls to our crisis line. And the scary thing is that there are a lot more people out there suffering from family violence who haven't made that call. We're here if they need us," said the Director Nancy Bryan of Ruth's Cottage.

The number for the crisis hotline is 1-800-334-2836.

The Tift County Sheriff sent this news release-
