LEE CO., GA (WALB) - A Lee County Salon raises money for an Albany woman battling a rare disease.
Blonde INC provided free haircuts for donations for Shelley Sunshine Sunday. Sunshine has Lymphedema, an abnormal collection of high-protein fluid just beneath the skin that can be very painful. She's currently in Germany for three surgeries and her therapy afterwards is not covered by insurance.
"She's doing really great. I mean it's kind of hard being away from home of course. It's pretty inspirational how strong she's being considering being over there by herself and going through this by herself," Tammie Mitchell.
Sunshine will return to Albany in April. Monetary donations can also be dropped off at the Ozone Lounge and Albany Gold and Silver Buyers.
