ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Spending your money at Albany businesses could help spur Albany's economy.
That's the message of a new campaign the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off on Thursday evening.
"Think Local" is a program that will run throughout the year to encourage you to support local businesses.
Chamber leaders say when more money stays in Dougherty County, it improves the whole community.
President and CEO Chris Hardy says he expects the economy to continue improving slowly this year.
“There are some sectors that are kind of lagging behind and some that are kind of pushing forward, but we have to let everyone kind of meet in the middle and come together and proceed as a community that way everyone can buy in and start selling the community,” says President and CEO of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce Chris Hardy.
Hardy says it would be great to attract a big new industry, but small businesses are the biggest providers of jobs.
