LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - Leesburg Police are working to equip their officers with body cameras.
Chief Charles Moore examined several brands and models Wednesday at the Georgia Chiefs Association meeting in Augusta.
Following the controversial police shooting in Ferguson, Missouri, Justice Officials recommended all police officers wear the cameras.
Chief Moore thinks it's a good investment.
"For officer safety and for not only the police officer but for the public too. This is something I think will be a vital asset to our police department. To all agencies sooner or later.:
Chief Moore says he will discuss purchasing the cameras with the Leesburg City Manager and hopefully put it on the agenda for the next City Commission meeting.
