A grand jury will decide whether to indict a McRae man, accused of murdering a Cobb County couple.
28-year-old Jay Towns was denied bond Tuesday. He's charged with murdering Bud and June Runion Thursday after they traveled from Marietta, hoping to buy a classic car from Towns. Bud Runion posted a wanted ad on Craigslist to which Towns responded.
Investigators found their bodies and vehicle Monday. Authorities have not released a clear motive, though Towns is charged with robbery. Investigators say they have not found any drugs nor any indication of drug use.
Towns' relatives think he's innocent. "Somebody else has something to do with this crap too," said Ronnie Towns, Jay's father.
"I can't believe it. There's no way, absolutely no way that I would believe that Jay did this," said Anne Horton, Jay's aunt.
Sheriff Steverson/ "We're following up on information still. We still have mounds of data that we're pouring over," explained Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson.
The grand jury is expected to hear the case in the next few months. Prosecutors say they will announce whether they will seek the death penalty after an indictment.
