ALBANY, GA (WALB) - In an announcement Wednesday, the Dougherty County School System announced two new leaders for its board.
The system named Velvet Riggins as its new chairman, and Robert Youngblood as the vice chair.
Riggins is an Albany native and a graduate of Dougherty High School. He succeeds Carol Tharin, whose term expired on December 31.
Youngblood was elected to the board in 2012, is a lifelong resident of Dougherty County, and has 30 years of service in the Dougherty County School System.
