Georgia Sheriff makes announcement on missing couple

McRae, GA (WALB) -

Authorities made an announcement updating the search for a missing couple who went missing after driving across the state to check out a Craigslist advertisement. The news conference ended around 4:15 p.m. on Monday.

According to a report, Elrey "Bud" Runion and his wife June traveled from Marietta to McRae in response to an ad for a 1966 Ford Mustang on Craigslist.

Family members called authorities on Thursday after they could not contact the couple. Since then, they have put together a Facebook page to help in the search for the couple.

Bud and June Runion are in their late 60's. They were last seen traveling in a 2003 champagne-colored GMC Envoy.

Investigators had been canvassing the areas around McRae with helicopters to aid in the search.

Anyone with further information is urged to call the Telfair County Sheriff's Office at 229-868-6621.
