Flu concerns in Southwest Georgia on decline

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The number of flu cases is in Georgia has increased after several weeks of decline.

Georgia was one of the earliest states to have widespread activity.

Recently, the state dropped into the "minimal" category.

Experts say that kind of swing isn't uncommon.

Though statewide numbers have increased lately, that's not the case for Southwest Georgia.

"When you look at our area, we're looking pretty good," Dr. Jacqueline Grant, Southwest Georgia Public Health Department, said. "Our numbers seem to be down. If you look at over the past few weeks in our district.

Dr. Grant says the flu vaccine is the best way to prevent the flu.

Frequent hand washing and covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze also helps keep it from spreading
