X-Indoor League welcomes Albany team

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The X-League Indoor Football League is ready to welcome Albany to its ranks next year.

The X-League put out a news release saying Albany is the first expansion team for 2016.

The league's second season will begin in two months.

Evan Barber with the Albany ownership group says they hope to finalize a lease agreement with the city to play at the Albany Civic Center.

City leaders say they have only had general, preliminary discussions and are not close to reaching a deal.

The ownership group is currently holding an online contest for fans to choose the team's name.
