SUMTER CO., GA (WALB) -

Rainy conditions caused a big rig to overturn, blocking traffic on a highway in Sumter County Friday morning.

23-year old Claude Forbes was driving south on US Highway 49 around 10 o'clock when he says his door blew open. He lost control and slid on the wet road. The semi overturned in a field.

Crews worked quickly to clean up the wreck and keep the road open.

"We didn't have to close down the road, we just had a road close down and DOT is helping out a lot. It can be a hassle getting out especially when it goes into a field a little bit, but overall, roads not shut down and everyone's doing a good job," said Trooper James Vaughn.

Crews were able to get the truck upright about 1 o'clock. Forbes was released from Phoebe Sumter after being treated for minor injuries.
