TIFTON, GA (WALB) -  Veterans interested in farming and small farmers got the chance to learn more about producing crops Thursday.

One-day workshops were also held at the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center by the Ocmulgee River RC&D Council.

Attendees were able to attend sessions to learn more about crop prices, the farm bill and safety.

"There's opportunities to possibly find a career in agriculture and to help them grow their families and to produce food for them and also possibly make a living off of it," said President Ellis Lamme of the Upper Ocmulgee River RC&D Council.

The group holds the veteran and small farmer workshops around Georgia each year.

This year, they're making stops in Tift, Peach and Gwinnett County.
