The city of Moultrie will officially open its new Main Street Park at the end of this month.
It's been under construction for more than a year. The director of parks and recreation says plaques, a back fence, signs and donor bricks still need to be installed. Officials say people in the community are excited about the park.
"It's a showcase park, its right here on the main street coming and going out of town," said Terry Peek, Director of Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department. "A lot of people were born on this very sight in the Vereen Memorial Hospital. Now they're grand kids will be playing in a park on this sight."
The $450,000 park was paid for through a land and water conservation grant, sales tax revenue, and private donations.
The grand opening will be Saturday January 31st at 10:00 a.m.
