Steam engine 2132
BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -
A piece of history that's been in the Bainbridge community for almost 35 years may be on its way back to Kentucky.
The steam engine has served as a monument for folks who visit Bainbridge's Boat Basin.
But now, its original owners from Corbin, Kentucky want their piece of history back home.
While some folks want the city to keep the train, others think it's had its time, and it's time to go.
Bainbridge resident Bill McCamon said, “Bainbridge is an interesting place, it's a good place. And it doesn't need a train. Not one that, in 10 years, I don't think it'll be there anyway. They'll have to haul it off by pieces.”
The Bainbridge City Council met with Corbin representatives Wednesday night.
No word on if and how the train would be returned.
