Pelham welcomes new Walmart

PELHAM, GA (WALB) - There was a line outside Pelham's new Walmart before they opened the doors at 7:30. Free coke products and gift bags were handed out to all customers.

  • In the video above,  part time Pelham PD Patrolman Jimmy Layton, who works two days a week, shows off a move as he helped direct traffic.

The new 12,000 square foot Walmart Neighborhood Market at 398 Barrow Avenue is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sundays 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

$2,500 in grants from Walmart will be presented to area organizations, and the store will have a payroll of at least 30 full and part-time positions.

The store will provide Pelham residents with low prices on a broad assortment of merchandise including fresh produce and meats, frozen foods, groceries and pharmacy. Customers can also fill up at the stores' fuel stations.

Customers can shop additional items including top toys, gifts, electronics and home decor on Walmart.com through Walmart pickup, which will offer free shipping to the Pelham Walmart Neighborhood Market stores. They can also use Walmart's new Savings Catcher receipt comparison tool to feel more confident they are getting some of the best deals available in Pelham.

"We are excited to be a part of the Pelham community," said Pelham store manager Frank Wilkerson. "Our associates have worked hard to get the store ready and we look forward to showing it off to our customers on grand-opening day and in the days to come."Copyright  2015 WALB.  All rights reserved.
