ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A city commissioner is concerned fair practices aren't being used when it comes to zoning.
Commissioner BJ Fletcher wants to make sure the city is complying with land-use policies after seeing more growth in certain parts of the city.
She says some neighborhoods are getting congested and have retail, housing, and hotels all in the same area.
"I've been trying to find out what the land use policy is because I want to make sure we are in compliance with it, and sometimes you hear that there is flexibility, and I just want to make sure there is flexibility straight across the board," said Fletcher.
Albany City staff members say the planning commission follows guidelines that are outlined in what's called the "comprehensive plan," which is approaching an update.
