VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Work got underway Tuesday to resurface portions of 12 Valdosta roads.
The city will be resurfacing 2.56 miles worth of road and replacing curbs and gutters along the portions of the 12 roads as necessary.
The city is using a grant from the Georgia Department of Transportation as well as SPLOST VII funds to pay for the work.
In 2014, the city was able to resurface 2.59 miles of roads through the grant. "With our general operating money, we're going to be doing patches and emergency repairs the rest of the year. This is the only time we'll be doing entire lengths or blocks of streets," explained Valdosta Engineering Project Manager Kevin Tolliver.
The work is expected to be completed in less than 60 days.
