The 2015 General Assembly session has begun and one of the leading issues getting a lot of attention this session will be medical marijuana.
A bill to legalize cannabis oil to treat children with severe seizures nearly became law last year, after several families left the state to live in states where the use of medicinal marijuana is not a crime. .
Most south Georgia lawmakers say they support the idea but won't commit to supporting the bill until they see the final version.
This year's version of the bill decriminalizes possession of cannabis oil and would set up a council to study the possibility of allowing production and distribution in Georgia.
We sincerely hope lawmakers will listen to their constituents, keeping in mind the wishes of Georgians, and seriously consider this legislation.
