ATLANTA, GA (WALB) - The Georgia House of Representatives' Committee on Assignments named State Representative Jay Powell, a Republican from Camilla, as the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.
Powell will also serve as a member on the Governmental Affairs, MARTOC, Rules, and Judiciary committees.
"I would like to thank Speaker Ralston and my fellow colleagues who serve on the Committee on Assignments for their confidence and entrusting me with this new chairmanship," said Rep. Powell. "I look forward to working with members of this committee to serve the best interests of all Georgians."
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
Representative Jay Powell represents the citizens of District 171, which includes portions of Colquitt, Decatur, and Mitchell counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2008.
