Church wants its benches back

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  The congregation of Providence Church on Archwood Drive in Albany would like to have its benches returned. 

Between Thursday evening and Friday morning, two metal benches, valued at $600, were taken from the front sidewalk of the church.

Pastor Jason Spears says, "We are a helping church, and we'd like to help whoever thought they needed to steal these benches. They can contact us, and we'll try to help them. We'd like our benches back."

Someone also stole their benches last summer, and First Freewill Baptist Church suffered the same fate. The culprits were never caught.

Last summer the thief later paid the church to replace them. Reverend Spears called the police, but is asking the thief to return the benches and contact him because he wants to talk.
