ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Deer hunting season officially ended Thursday in Georgia.
One hunter was killed near Cordele by an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound, but D.N.R rangers say that overall it was a safe year in the woods and fields.
"The total number of hunting incidents that we actually had was very low and minimal and that's just shows that the hunters that are out there are actually hunting safe and identifying targets. The majority of the tree stand accidents that we had was people falling out from ladder stands,” said Cpl. Robbie Griner, Georgia DNR.
Rangers said hunters were pleased with the number of deer they came across while hunting.
